About IEEE

Founded in 1963, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers IEEE is the world’s largest professional association with the core purpose of fostering technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. IEEE members include scientists, engineers and medical doctors. At a glance, IEEE has more than 421000 members in over 160 countries, contains 39 technical societies that organize 1600 annual conferences. IEEE publishes a third of the world’s technical literature. IEEE currently has over 1100 active standards including WiFi, ZigBee and FireWire and 500 other standards under development. 

 

About IEEE Lebanon Section

IEEE Lebanon Section creation was approved by IEEE in 2004 and licensed by the Lebanese Government in 2006. The section has more than 1500 members, out of which 970 are students. IEEE Student Branches are established in 17 different Lebanese universities, AUB being the oldest. Lebanon Section englobes 6 technical societies and 3 affinity groups. The Section has several Memorandum of Understanding with Alfa, the order of Engineers and Architects in Tripoli, Ericsson, Nokia, IEA and ZRE. The Section received the 2016 “IEEE Region 8 outstanding medium section award”.

 

About IEEE Young Professionals Lebanon

Young Professionals is an international community of innovative members and volunteers. Members of this community are interested in elevating their professional image, expanding their global network, connecting with peers locally and giving back to the community. In Lebanon, Young Professionals was revived in 2014 with more than 400 members, and has been very active ever since. The team received the 2016 and 2017 “IEEE Most Active Affinity Group Award in Lebanon Section”.
